Felony cases are cases where the sentence can exceed eleven months and twenty-nine days. They normally involve a person getting arrested with an arrest warrant. Most felonies begin in General Sessions Court but can be “bound over” into Criminal Court.
I have been very successful in getting many felonies reduced to misdemeanors. This way they can be settled in General Sessions Court without the added expense and trouble of going to Criminal Court.
By reducing a felony to a misdemeanor, it keeps a felony off of a person’s record, which is very important. It is far more serious to have a felony on your record than a misdemeanor.
